“Going Postal” means to become so angry that one
resorts to an insane act of violence. The Postman,
once a friendly figure, has come to represent the
beleaguered individual who has lost perspective and
is feeling terribly overburdened. Some aspect of
persecution or perceived unfairness drives this person
beyond the edge of reason where they take a retaliatory
action against those believed to be responsible
for their pain or suffering.
